ECIDC Seeks Nominations for Regional Recognition Awards
ECIDC’s Regional Recognition Awards honor East Central Illinois’ most ethical and socially responsible businesses, most influential community and economic development leaders, and most committed volunteers. East Central Illinois, as defined for these purposes includes Christian, Clark, Coles, Crawford, Cumberland, Douglas, Edgar, Effingham, Jasper, Moultrie, and Shelby counties.     

Please submit your nomination for the following Regional Recognition Awards:
Business Ethics & Social Involvement Awards (BESI)
Outstanding Leadership in Community & Economic Development Award
Lifetime Achievement Award

BESI Awards are sponsored by ECIDC, Lake Land College and Eastern Illinois University

Award recipients will be recognized at a local civic event in their community; either a Chamber Meeting, City Council Meeting or other meeting as schedules allow. Recognition will also take place at the ECIDC Annual Meeting which will be held Thursday, May 19, 2016 at the Thelma Keller Convention Center in Effingham, Illinois. Recipients will also be featured in the ECIDC Annual Report.

Dozens of community leaders teamed to complete an

Americas Best Communities Grant for Paris, Marshall, West Union, Hutsonville, Robinson, and Palestine. The partnership was awarded $5,000 for work in its communities.

5th Annual Broadband Summit a Success

December 2, 2014

Over 50 community leaders and broadband industy executives met at Sarah Bush Lincoln Education Center in Mattoon, Illinois to collaborate and hear broadband updates.  A group of area telecom students and professors also attended the annual event.



East Central Illinois Hosted the 2nd Annual Regional Manufacturing Roundtable with 95 in Attendance

On October 28, 2014, dozens of manufacturers, economic development professionals, educators, and community leaders met to share success stories and to network in order to ensure a good pipeline of skilled labor for regional regional manufacturing. Rural Partners awarded a grant to ECIDC to assist with expenses of the conference.

ECIDC Announces Regional Recognition Award Recipients

During its 31st Annual Banquet held May 21, 2015, ECIDC honored some of the area’s most successful, community-minded business owners and dedicated community leaders with presentations of the Business Ethics and Social Involvement (BESI) Awards, the Outstanding Leadership in Community and Economic Development Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award. <more

Jay Markwell of Casey and Richard (Dick) West of Mattoon have been selected as the 2014 Business Ethics and Social Involvement Award Recipients. Norma Lansing of Effingham has been chosen to receive the Outstanding Leadership in Community and Economic Development Award and Bob Colvin was selected for the Lifetime Achievement Award. <more
