ECIDC Hosts Grant Planning Meetings

Twenty-two community leaders met on two seperate evenings to hear about a potential grant opportunity.  The Frontier/Dish Network's Americas Best Communities Grant is focused on Economic Development.  Three finalists will win $1 million, $2 million, or $3 million.  Six eligible ECIDC communities are considering a partnership.

 

East Central Illinois Hosts Regional Manufacturing Roundtable with 95 in Attendance

On October 28, 2014, dozens of manufacturers, economic development professionals, educators, and community leaders met to share success stories and to network in order to ensure a good pipeline of skilled labor for regional regional manufacturing. Rural Partners also awarded a competitive grant to ECIDC to assist with expenses of the conference.

ECIDC Co-Hosts 4th Annual Regional Broadband Summit

70 community leaders, government representatives, broadband providers and broadband stakeholders gathered on December 5, 2013 in Mattoon to network and learn of current broadband services, planned expansion projects in the region, and broadband education/adoption efforts in the region.

Jay Markwell of Casey and Richard (Dick) West of Mattoon have been selected as the 2014 Business Ethics and Social Involvement Award Recipients. Norma Lansing of Effingham has been chosen to receive the Outstanding Leadership in Community and Economic Development Award and Bob Colvin was selected for the Lifetime Achievement Award. <more
